Since I wrote about how much I loved Bryson Stott’s walk-up song yesterday it got me thinking about what I would choose as mine if I had one. Wouldn’t it be cool if we had a song play as we entered the office or a room?
I have two I would possibly choose. The first is an “old school” choice from way back to my playing days. The days when you made psych or mix tapes. The days when Jock Jams was popular.
My pick would be Republica’s “Ready to Go.” The up tempo song worked for any sport and fits me and my intensity. I feel like I always bring it and am always “ready to go”, making this song appropriate. The pace and repetitive ready to go lyrics of the song used to pump me up as the lyrics of this song are not meaningful.
My second pick would be a more recent choice, Panic at the Disco’s “High Hopes.” I like to be successful in whatever I do. I love the opening of the song “had to have high, high hopes for the living, shooting for the stars when I couldn’t make a killing, didn’t have a dime but I always had a vision, always had high high hopes.” I never had and still don’t have much money but didn’t let that stop me from getting to where I needed to go. It’s just a feel good song.
The end of the opening lyrics are “Didn’t know how I always had a feeling I was going be that one in a million, always had high high hopes.” I always wanted to excel at what I did. I have never done anything that special but I would consider battling breast cancer and kicking cancer’s ass while pregnant with 4 young kids makes me one in a million and pretty damn special.
So there’s my choices for walk-up songs if I had to have one, which I of course do not need. I enjoyed thinking about this and what song or songs I would choose.
