While the weather was not the best I had a very nice Mother’s Day weekend. I’ll start with Thursday which is not quite the weekend yet, but somewhat of a holiday with Cinco de Mayo.
I got good news following imaging and an appointment with my breast surgeon which was such a relief. I celebrated with some homemade margaritas which came out good. I was a little nervous because I was making from scratch: literally squeezed lime and lemons to make and shared a non-alcoholic one with Reese while the boys were at their baseball game that night.
Friday featured a Sixers playoff win to get them back in the series. And they capped off the weekend with another win Sunday night to even the series. And Harden was back to his old self, what a performance!
Saturday I got to watch via video from Chris, Reese’s dress rehearsal before her first dance recital and it’s just the cutest thing. I can’t wait to see her on stage next week!
On a very rainy Saturday, I took the boys to a comic store for National Free Comic Book Day. They had a great time at Final Boss Comics and Games in Lawrence. (I highly recommend to anyone local) playing video games and getting to take home a lot of free comics which we started to read together this weekend.
Later that day I made mint juleps non-alcoholic again so the kids could also enjoy for the Kentucky Derby. These also came out quite good homemade: mixing mint leaves, lemon, sugar and ginger ale. (Maybe I should start a side gig as a bartender?) Reese and I decorated derby hats with craft flowers for the occasion.
We then all watched the Kentucky Derby together and loved watching the horse with the worse odds pull off the amazing upset win.
I started off Sunday with Chase joining me in a hiit workout (why take it easy on Mother’s Day?) Shane then joined me in some yoga. As you know I’m a workout fanatic and I was so excited that my boys came down on their own to work out with me.
I spent most of the day relaxing in bed and playing with the kids and finished with delicious take out of my choice for dinner.
The boys made me really cute cards. Chase may have helped Shane since their cover is the same lol. Chris got me a beautiful necklace with all our birthstones and names on it.
But best of all was just spending time with the family all day. They are my greatest gift. Yes motherhood is exhausting, especially with five young kids including a two month old. Throw in undergoing chemo for five months now and it’s really exhausting.
But the exhaustion is all worth it. They make me smile and laugh everyday. They keep me going during all the chemo and throughout this cancer battle. And they make me so happy. I’m so blessed to have these five kids and I’m so glad I got to spend Mother’s Day with them. That was truly the best gift I could ask for.
