It has been awhile since I’ve been in the infusion room, five weeks to be exact. I’m resuming immunotherapy which I have every three weeks, had delayed two weeks because of the mastectomy and delayed another week because of Covid.
As I sit in the heated chair (the only good part of the treatment) I’m reminded why I didn’t miss this. It’s a lot of waiting around. I have learned to be much more patient from chemo but I still don’t like waiting.
Each appointment starts with bloodwork. Then you wait to see the doctor. Then you wait to get hooked up in the infusion room. And then you wait for the medicine to run out.
Thankfully immunotherapy is much quicker than chemotherapy. And there’s no side effects like with chemo.
So I should be back on schedule for coming here every three weeks where until March. But given the chemo and surgery this is easy. I’ve been through a lot worse.
It’s always an adjustment getting back in the routine when you have been away for a bit. I didn’t miss it but it’s all part of this process and journey. One step at a time, one treatment at a time and hopefully I’ll be done before I know it.
