Our sitter recently asked me an interesting question. She asked if I have a favorite child. She said I feel like parents do even if they don’t say they do.
When I thought more about it I realized no I don’t have a favorite as each child is unique and different and there’s things I love about all of them. One of the best things about being a parent is seeing each child’s personality develop. It’s also fun to see how different each child is.
So here’s just a little of what I love about my five.
Chase is the oldest. He loves sports so it’s fun to be able to watch and discuss sports with him and play and practice with him. He’s already a math whiz (definitely did not get that from me!) and is so enthusiastic about learning which I love. He’s not afraid to try new things and adapts so well to whatever he does. Chase is outgoing and will go into something new with no hesitation. He is also very caring and thoughtful.
Shane is funny and very creative. He delivers his jokes perfectly. He should have his own YouTube channel with some of his toys as he provides all kinds of commentary while he plays. (I think he’d be better than Ryan on Ryan’s World!) When he plays he is very creative, coming up with different scenarios as characters battle or making Lego Mother’s Day things for me out of our many legos including flowers, chairs and food. He’s a softee behind a tough exterior.
Reese is super sweet but also a diva. She is a great sister and so good and caring with all her siblings. She is a girly girl and loves dance, unicorns and princesses. She’s also very fierce and independent. She loves to shop like her momma and is always up for any outing with me. She also has a unique and fun style and will dress in a way that is all her own.
Alice is adorable but a troublemaker. Much like Alice in Wonderland, she’s very curious and will get into any and everything. She’s also very funny. If she’s doing something she shouldn’t be, she will say “No I’m not.” And this means yes she is. Despite her ability to make messes and get into things Alice is also very sweet. She’s great with Bryce and will wave and say good morning anytime he wakes up. She will also call him a cutie pie. Naughty but cute is the best way to describe her.
Then there’s Bryce. He’s our little miracle. We are so lucky because he’s really an easy-going and happy baby. When he cries it’s because he really needs something: a diaper change or time to eat. He is so expressive already and makes such funny faces checking out the world around him. He is very strong and constantly trying to stand up when we hold him. He’s so fun to cuddle and snuggle and I love seeing his big smile.
So there’s just a few things about my five kids that I love and what makes them each unique. I couldn’t pick a favorite if I tried because they each bring something different and special to our family and I wouldn’t want it any other way!
