As I’ve said numerous times you have to find humor during difficult times and I will continue to do just that. When I wore the shirt recently Chris told me I remind him of Larry the Cable Guy because of my shirt and hair.
Now you all know why my hair is short. Since my mastectomy I have been wearing button up shirts which are much easier to put on than regular shirts. Prior to my surgery I was going through bins of old clothes in our garage and found this button up shirt from many years ago and pulled it out because I could use it now. I didn’t care what it looked like, it was all about comfort.
And every time I wear it, Chris says the same thing. Oh look you have your Larry the Cable Guy shirt on. But as I’ve said before, looks don’t matter, this year is all about survival and if I look like Larry the Cable Guy in this mode, who cares. I’m here.
I happen to love one of the characters Larry voices, Mater from the Cars movies. Like “tuh-mater without the tuh.” As Mater said to McQueen in the first Cars movie: “Ain’t no need to watch where I’m goin, just need to know where I’ve been.” I’ve been through hell this year but it’s made me stronger and more appreciative of life and all I do have. I won’t run from the tough experience but learn from it and hope it keeps me on a healthy path through wherever I may go.
