So today I had a follow-up with a specialist at UPenn in Philly. Nothing wrong, just a follow-up from a spring appointment. It was a late morning apt and it would be tight but we were going to head to the Phillies game who were playing at 1 today. It was going to a be a nice anniversary present to ourselves.
But things did not align and I have an infection incision from my mastectomy . It started oozing this morning and I had to rush to the plastic surgeon’s office, then rush home to head to Philly for this appointment scheduled months ago and drive by the stadium I so wanted to be heading to for a nice afternoon out. And I forgot to grab my coffee to take with me leaving me extra cranky!
But we decided to be smart and head home after the appointment at UPenn. Sweating for a few hours at a baseball game would not be ideal for an infected incision. I also have to a procedure tomorrow to take out the expander in my infected breast which delays the reconstruction process but fortunately is nothing too serious.
So I’m so disappointed. It’s a setback. And we had to cancel plans for an afternoon out at our of favorite hangouts of the past at a Phillies game. (And they’re red hot in a playoff race right now!!) ??
I’m frustrated and upset that I got this infection and have to have another surgery and likely have a drain put in for a few days. I’ll also have to take it easy for at least a week, no picking up the baby for a few days and back to just walking for workouts.
But I’ve had my share of setbacks on this journey and this is just one more. I got through everything else and can get through us. Unfortunately we can’t treat ourselves as we have to eat the tickets for the nice seats we bought today but oh well. Guess it wasn’t meant to be.
Here’s us in Phillies gear at the doctors office and that’s as close as you get sometimes!
