I have so much to be thankful for this year. Last year at this time I had recently found out I had breast cancer and was about to start chemo while 25 weeks pregnant. I was so nervous about what lay ahead.
This year I stand here, still nervous but thankfully able to say I’m cancer free following 16 rounds of chemo and a double mastectomy. And we have a healthy baby boy to celebrate this year.
I also have four other beautiful kids who make me smile and laugh every day. And I have an amazing husband who has been my rock and helped me every step of the way during this difficult journey.
I am also grateful for the wonderful medical team I had and have that helped keep both me and my baby healthy. I am grateful for all my friends and family who have provided so much support to me this past year.
I am thankful I’m standing here today and even with a few surgical complications I’m fine. I am thankful for this second opportunity that I wasn’t sure of at this holiday last year.
While the past year has been difficult and I lost my hair, breasts and job, I also gained new appreciation for the many wonderful people I’m lucky to have in my life. I’m lucky to be here and get a complete response following chemo and surgery. And I’m so grateful for my five little turkeys who bring me so much happiness every day.
There’s so much to be thankful for every year, but this year more than ever.
Happy Thanksgiving!
