After immunotherapy ends today I will be down to just two remaining appointments! I’ve had my port in and began treatments in this infusion room the end of November 2021. Now the finish line is really in site and I can’t wait to be done!
The only thing I will miss is the heated chairs, that is a really nice feature to sitting here for hours. But I won’t miss anything else. Well I’ll miss the nurses who were really great. But that’s it.
I won’t miss the hours every week or three weeks. I won’t miss waiting for the drip to finish. I won’t miss the fatigue I feel after each treatment. I won’t miss noticing how much younger I am than most of the people getting treatment here.
I will be done another big hurdle in this cancer battle. Now I will say that immunotherapy is much easier than chemo but it’s still tiring. The whole process is exhausting. But I will finally be done.
It hasn’t been easy but I’ve been able to make it through. I tried to take it week by week and focus on the next treatment ahead. I started coming here when pregnant with Bryce at 25 weeks and my last treatment will be about a week after his first birthday.
My oncologist has been wonderful and I am so grateful for the great care I have received. I know a lot of monitoring and appointments will still be a part of the process but the treatments will be done.
Another check in the box. Another big step complete. Another hurdle cleared. Another step forward. Another sign of the tough mother I am.
