Since we went to a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party today and Alice’s birthday is coming up, I figured it’s a good time to write about one of my favorite Disney characters.
I’ve always loved is Alice in Wonderland. Ever since I first saw Disney movie I fell in love with the strange but fascinating adventure of Alice.
What I liked about Alice is that she was different. She wasn’t a princess. She was independent and head strong, curious and a little naughty. She’s not a typical heroine and I just found her incredibly interesting and likable.
Alice’s adventures took her to a strange land with many bizarre creatures and characters. I found the antics of the Mad Hatter amusing and always laughed at the White Hare who was always late for a very important date. (As a mom of five that might as well be our slogan heading anywhere with the entire crew!)
One of my favorite strange characters in Wonderland was the flamingo croquet clubs that talked. Not sure what it was about them but I liked them a lot.
Wonderland was such an eccentric and mysterious place that you truly never knew what was around the corner.
That’s why I’ve loved Alice and when we were having our second girl I knew that was the name I wanted.
Ironically the name seems to be a perfect fit for our girl who is curious, independent and a little naughty or I should say more than a little naughty! She’s got beautiful blue eyes like her namesake and isn’t afraid to take charge. This also gets her in trouble frequently much like Alice in Wonderland.
With our Alice, we may find toothpaste squeezed out all over the sink, clothes all over the floor and graham crackers all over the table if she’s left unattended but something about her prevents you from getting too mad. She’s just a curious and independent girl.
I look forward to celebrating our baby girl’s third birthday in a few days. She keeps us on our toes and makes every day an adventure, but that’s why we love her so much!
