Each one of our children has a special story of how they entered the world and our lives and Alice Harper is no different.
Alice was born on Friday the 13th. She was also born at the start of the pandemic, which was a very confusing, scary and uncertain time.
Because of the pandemic family and friends did not get to see Alice. This postpartum period was very difficult for me even though I’d done this three times already. I struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression but thankfully my wonderful obgyn got me help I needed to deal with a newborn and a pandemic. I’m thankful I started seeing a therapist who not only helped me through that but through my whole cancer journey.
So during this scary time little Alice was our ray of sunshine. She gave us something happy to focus on despite all the uncertainty around us.
Alice was also a big source of joy for us as we had a miscarriage almost a year to date before she was born. We were so grateful she was ok and healthy after suffering the loss we did. She was the rainbow after the storm.
Alice certainly has a story about when she came into the world. She entered on Friday the 13th and the start of a global pandemic. She didn’t go anywhere for almost a year and hardly got to see any family or friends during that time. But that hasn’t stopped her from bringing us laughs and joy every day. She’s one of a kind in more ways than one. And a lot of trouble too!
