When you have five kids you very rarely get time to yourself or with your spouse. With all we have been through with my recent medical situation the only time Chris and I have spent kid free has been to medical appointments which is not fun and exactly quality time together.
So when my husband’s work schedule gave him a day off this week and we didn’t have any appointments and we had care for the kids we went on a date, just the two of us.
It was so nice to just enjoy the time of just us. And while we love our kids and do almost everything with them, we need that time for just us every now and then.
We get so busy with the kids that marriage does become hard especially with five kids. Our time together is forgotten and we don’t make time for just us.
I’m so glad we took this opportunity for just us. We had lunch at a tavern that was near where our wedding was and we enjoyed stopping in when we were making wedding arrangements, bringing back some good memories.
Marriage is hard. It becomes harder with kids. It becomes even harder with cancer and medical complications. But remember what lead to your family and make sure to make time for the special person. You may not get a lot of time for each other but that rare time together makes any outing or date even more worthwhile and necessary.
