Sometimes you have days where you just have to make things work. As a mom of five you have to make things work a lot. The good news with having five kids is that you get used to winging things and making it work. So when things get crazy, you don’t panic you’re used to craziness and making it work.
This morning I headed downstairs to workout. I heard water running and looked into the laundry room and there was a huge puddle of water on the floor and water was dripping out of the water heater. Chris spent the morning emptying out water and finding a plumber while I did a quick workout and got two boys who wouldn’t get dressed between fighting and claiming no pants fit them.
We thought the leak had finally slowed. Chris headed into work and I went upstairs and got some work done then went back downstairs. And the leak from the heater started again. And there was another big puddle to clean up.
I then spent the next two hours emptying out a cup of water catching the leak every couple minutes. I ended up bringing my laptop down and sat on a small SpongeBob kids chair so I could peek into the laundry room and get up to empty the cup and head back out get a couple edits done on my computer and back to empty the cup. Fun times let me tell you.
I scheduled a call for work after the plumber was supposed to have come but of course I just start my call and the plumber came at almost exact same time. Three different times I had to get off my call with the vendor to help the plumber but fortunately she was very nice and patient and we got through the questions and proposals we needed.
We got a new water heater and the leak stopped and while it’s not an expense we wanted, we knew we were coming up on this as a possible thing we would need to look at.
The day didn’t go as planned and I spent way more time in the laundry room than I had planned but our problem got fixed, Chris got into work, and I was able to get what I needed done for work from home. It was crazy but we made it work, just as we do with so many things with five kids.
